While the style of the Quran is exceeding clear and succint, it does employ some phrases --- especially verbal phrases --- which can only be appreciated through the help of a reference text of this nature.A casual reader of the Quran will not need this specialized resource, but if you are a student of the Quran, early Arabic (fusha), or Arabic eloquence (balaagha), you will appreciate the value of this lexicon. Dictionaries are great for looking up individual words, but Quranic phrases and idioms are seldom found in modern dictionaries. To my knowledge, no work of this nature has been attempted in the Arabic language, so this is a definitely a gem of a find!
My only criticism: I wish the editors and publishers had opted to include Arabic script alongside the English text, so that this work had the look and feel of Hans Wehr's famous Arabic-English dictionary.

This book is certainly not for the beginner. Mustansir Mir has collected a plethora of Verbal Idioms from the Quran and have laid these out according to the Arabic root system. The book is a little difficult to read because of the complexity in the way the transliteration is done. Otherwise, it is a must resource for those planning to get deeper into the language of Quran.
I agree with the two reviewers above me. This is a one of a kind book. Dictionaries can only get you so far; this book goes above and beyond what dictionaries give you and highlights idioms/phrases contained in the qur'an. Great supplement for any serious student of the recitation.
A note for those interested this book is available as a PDF, and can also be bought from its publishers CMENAS University of Michigan. Just fyi.
