I have always had a strong passion for healthcare and being an EMT/Medic to help me into more opportunities in the air vs ground and I gotta say I may use this book as a pocket bible... It is filled with great advice, suggestions, and even kind of a checklist of how to make yourself a great provider but importantly an asset to your partner. In this job we don't work alone and this book really covers what isn't in textbooks, this is street smart so to speak..Pick up a copy ! No really what are you waiting for.. New old not yet born into school... This is a great reminder of what will help you be successful in your career.

As an aspiring EMT, this book helped to improve my confidence walking into this new phase of my life. It's equipped with the expert knowledge and experience that would hope and expect from a mentor in the profession (EMT/Paramedic). A must read, more than you can hope for.
This was an amazing gift for someone going INTO EMT school as well as for someone graduating soon after. The insights and the tips here are not all medical related. That is what school is for. If anything its a great read for getting some sort of grounding being the new person in your unit. You are getting insight from someone who has been in this field long enough as well as other testimonials. DO NOT PASS THIS UP. Seriously a great book!
I am an ER/Trauma nurse and worked on a Critical Care Ambulance for 5 years. I had the privilege to work with the Author of this book for those 5 years. This book is SPOT ON for the "Fresh Out of EMT SCHOOL" student and anyone thinking about becoming one. Albert has written a very complete guide as to what to expect and what others expect from them. Albert was always one step ahead of me on the ambulance. He knew what I was thinking and what I would need to take care of the critical patients we transported. He knew his way around to all the hospitals in Northern California, and was very competent in getting us there in a safe and timely manor. His instincts were right on, he knew just how serious the patient was and that we needed to get to the hospital, and I didn't have to tell him a thing. The insight in this book shows just how important the job of EMT really is. GREAT JOB!!!
Albert Reyes, you’re the man for making this book. In the past 10 years I’ve worked 3 completely different counties providing emergency services on the ambulance, in the hospital, and with the fire department. Despite which route you decide to go, I can truly say being a public servant is truly the greatest job in the world. I remember being fresh out of EMT school, taking my first job as a volunteer firefighter...Being new is extremely stressful, and can often be very intimidating when you see the vets running calls like its second nature. You’re going to make mistakes, learn from them, then formulate tricks to prevent it from happening again. As I’ve picked up these tricks and learned from my experiences, I’ve often found myself saying “I wish someone would have told me this stuff when i was new.” Well look no further...This quick read is jam packed with pro tips from some of the best in the business that will surly get you started on the right foot. During my time in Santa Clara County, I had the pleasure of working with Albert for only a hand full of shifts. His 16 years of service to one of the busiest and most diverse areas in the bay area is a testament alone to his passion for the job. Al I don’t know how you did it, but you managed to pack a profound amount of knowledge into this excellent book. I would highly recommend it to everyone about to start a career in EMS, including my brother who just finished his EMT school.
Just got my copy of "Fresh Out of EMT School".. man do I wish I had this book when I first started. I worked IFT with Rural/Metro for over a year, and currently got hired with AMR Monterey County. Coming into 911 from IFT I was naturally nervous about a few things, like my FTO time, driving Code 3, and what do while on scene. This book hits every one of those points perfectly. I want to personally thank Albert Reyes who finally put a book out there to help with the worries of many coming into this career. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about becoming an EMT and even current EMTs. Thank you for all your hard work brother, it's much appreciated!
